Studio Talk with Jack Bullen

March 2024

Jack Bullen, Director and Founder of Woolwich Contemporary Print Festival visited SPS for a Q+A with our members, sharing advice for applying to the WCPF open call. Here’s a roundup of Jacks top tips..

Submit artwork that makes the judges feel something!
Steer away from AI
Do what you want to do, don’t get caught up with trends.
Take risks. Unconventional proposals are welcome.
Take good quality photographs - your images need to be good enough to go into a Press Release.
Keep your personal statement simple! The judges review thousands of applications, so cut through the noise and make it concise.
Work-in-progress designs are accepted but must fundamentally represent and form the final piece.
Don’t be afraid to re-apply! There’s a new panel of judges every year.
